San Diego-based Iron Butterfly hit their all-time high in the late '60s with their hit “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida,” which you might know best from that one episode of the Simpsons when Bart swapped out the music at church services with “In the Garden of Eden.” As a result of the song's hard-driving riffs, many consider Iron Butterfly an early heavy metal band. Fact: The 17:02 “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” took up an entire side of side two of the original record.
