ou wake up on the first day of the new year, hung over as all hell and cursing the sunlight streaming through your window. You don't want to talk, you don't want to eat, you don't even want to think-and luckily, you don't have to. Just roll over and tune your television to KTLA (or the five other channels broadcasting the same damn thing) and watch reruns of the Rose Parade all day long. There's actually nothing better than repetitive, corny banter to soothe your booze-addled brain. (Though you may want to keep the sound low-marching bands aren't exactly peaceful.) If you're feeling particularly ambitious, you can even untangle yourself from the claws of Orange County and head up to Pasadena to check out the floats in personĀ after the parade is through, minus the intense crowds and the crazies who camp out along Colorado Boulevard every year. A leisurely 2.5-mile walk should clear up any lingering lethargy. Can't quite make it out of bed on the first? Don't worry, the floats are available for viewing on Jan. 2, too-hope your hangover's cured by then.
