Those older than you (probably) tell tales of how the Reverend Horton Heat used to be the best live act on the planet-though the educated always thought that award went to Rocket From the Crypt, but whatever. And while the Reverend Horton Heat's show is solid, it tends to be the same experience each time around. Singer/guitarist Jim “Reverend Horton” Heath wears a Nudie suit and wails his hollow-body guitar. At some point, he winks at girls and tells the crowd how good-looking the females are while explaining how the same can't be said for the men. He may or may not climb atop Jimbo Wallace's standup bass, and shirtless dudes will start to pogo when the band play “400 Bucks.” Like heroin, it's fun the first timeĀ-but nearly impossible to re-create.
