It’s hard to be ironic in this post-Alanis Morrissette, post-Reality Bites world, but it appears that’s what they’re going for in the name of the “Ska is Dead” tour. See, it’s a bunch of ska bands, and they’re trying to prove that ska is, in fact, actually not dead, despite what you may have suspected (it’s been a long time since the Mighty Mighty Bosstones had a hit, y’know?). First started in 2004, the fourth iteration of the tour comes to town with third-wavers including Riverside’s Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Toasters, Deal’s Gone Bad and San Diego’s Buck-O-Nine (who had a hit with “My Town” about a dozen years ago). Skanking in 2009? If it’s going to happen anywhere, it’s here.
