Looks like these two have finally found a name that suits them. In 2002, the former Doors members played as the Doors of the 21st Century, but a legal battle with drummer John Densmore forced them to shorten that to D21C. Then the group reconfigured as Riders On the Storm, but they are touring currently as Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of the Doors—which is probably what they should have done all along. The twosome didn’t die in Paris in 1971 and shouldn’t have to stop performing their music just because some people equate the Doors with Jim Morrison. The iconic band were a quartet with four equal parts, so distancing themselves a bit more from the famous name not only gives Manzarek, Krieger and former Fuel singer Brett Scallions the opportunity to play without pissing on the legacy of one of America’s greatest rock acts, but it also allows fans to enjoy themselves without wondering how much better the show would be if Morrison were there.
