Artists Dao Nguyen and Richard Hutter come together in this dual art exhibition featuring some very mixed media. Both artists consider themselves investigators collecting evidence before they start their work, looking to take “the viewer far beneath the surface into a deeper realm of memory, emotion and time,” using simple—though uncommon—materials. Hutter begins with discarded 35mm slides of family events and dramatically enlarges details to produce surreal, almost pointillistic images. Nguyen takes a more literal interpretation of “Skin Deep,” as she creates delicate sculptures using pieces of her home environment and remnants of her own body.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 1 p.m. Starts: March 26. Continues through April 25, 2009
