Long before “going green” became so popular (necessary, yes, but still obnoxiously trendy), a big bear in a ranger hat had been telling children for years to take car of our planet’s trees and forests. Everybody knows and loves Smokey Bear and now seems like his moment more than ever. Bring the kids to the Discovery Science Center for their “Home Sweet Home” exhibit where they can join Smokey and Woodsy Owl and learn how to protect Earth’s precious ecosystems. Learning-made-fun topics include water conservation, fire safety and urban and natural forest protection. Or, you can go a less conventional route and just warn your kids about pissing off a giant bear.
