Things have certainly taken a funky turn at Commonwealth Lounge in the last couple of months. On any given weeknight, you’re likely to bump into different permutations of old school flavor as you traipse across the dark wood threshold into Fullerton’s sleek niche of city nightlife. Few can argue that the tenets of soul music are now thoroughly adopted here among the black leather chairs and bustling bar. This week provides a very literal translation of Commonwealth’s change for the better as seven-piece SoCal group the Soul Hustlers mob their way into the hearts of many with a savory blend of sweet soul and funk that always goes down smooth with your icy concoction of choice.
