Nearly two years into promoting his Lost Highway release Moving By Yourself, Frankenreiter's music career has left behind its surf-star rep, moved past the Jack Johnson comparisons and surf-movie soundtracks. He's cemented his contribution to the evolution of surf rock, a form of funky folk that's easy on the ears and dripping with soul. Growing up in Orange County, Frankenreiter enjoyed the enviable dilemma of working in music gigs between sponsored surf trips. And while it's easy to lump him in with what seems like a flock of surfers turned rockers, Frankenreiter hasn't relied on his Velcro valley connections to thrust him into the spotlight-just a soulful, organ-driven burst of good times.
