We couldn’t be happier that Yorba Linda’s the Steelwells are finally releasing an album. For months, we’ve been teased with fleeting glimpses of new songs at live shows, and had to contend with only two finished tracks on their MySpace—the haunting “Boxes” and the bluesy “Ghosts.” That’s simply not enough for a band producing some of the most engaging songwriting in Orange County, led by the rich, emotive vocals of lead singer/guitarist Joey Winter. What also makes us happy: They recorded Shallow on the Draft at Fullerton’s band-friendly ArtiSans Label. And the happiest: The Steelwells get to celebrate this release at the House of Blues in Anaheim, along with a stellar lineup of local favorites such as the Shys, Aushua, Yellow Red Sparks, the Color Turning and the Rambles (formerly Fun Tree).
