What Makes It Great?

What’s the difference between your average classical music lover and a full-blown music aficionado? A little education. In Robert Kapilow’s program, “What Makes It Great?,” he explores some of the finest classical compositions and shares his knowledge with an eager audience. This time, the event will center around the work of Dvorak, a Czech composer who specialized in romantic music. First, Kapilow (a conductor and composer himself) strips apart a musical composition, exploring each of its components individually. Once the audience is familiar with the song’s elements, the piece is presented in its entirety by guest performers. Highly acclaimed by both the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, “What Makes It Great?” is an evening that will forever change the way you listen to classical music.
