Some folks use life’s hardships as an excuse to accelerate their own personal failures. Others rise above those struggles to excel as human beings. Comedian Christopher Titus uses his tragedies as fodder for his killer stand-up routine, employing what he calls “hard funny,” because as he says, “We need comedy to get rid of our desire to kill.” Growing up with a schizophrenic mother who later killed her husband and then herself, an abusive alcoholic father, and a cheating and thieving ex-wife, Titus’ anger is well warranted. But rather than take it out on others, this master comedian entertains the masses with side-splitting routines on the fucked-up-edness of life. While most people would find a joyful life difficult given the circumstances, Christopher Titus continues his angry pursuit of happiness with this raw and real stand-up routine.
