When Circa Survive describe their sound as “wet with a little bit of sharp,” perhaps you’d expect something mellow peppered with a few epic crescendos to break up the tranquility. But Circa Survive are nothing like that. With more of a pop-punk edge, this Philadelphia five-piece blast from speakers with more bang than whimper. The band’s 2007 album, On Letting Go, led to them to playing festivals such as the Warped Tour and Coachella, where they garnered a reputation as an impressive live act. They’ve since signed with a new label and produced a follow-up album, Blue Sky Noise. Circa Survive’s latest project isn’t hugely celebrated just yet, but the band are optimistic, and perhaps you should be, too, if your love for emo-rock jams allows it.
