Goldenvoice announced today that next year’s Coachella Valley Music N Arts Festival – the world famous annual haven of indie rock, electronic music and sweating at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio – will take place Friday, April 17, Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19.
Yes, that's the third weekend in April, not the fourth weekend like it's always been in the past. OK, sure, it was the first weekend of May in 2004, but close enough. And in 1999 it was in October, but that was the show's first year.
The third installment of “Stagecoach: California’s County Music Festival,” also promoted by Goldenvoice and at the Empire Polo Fields, will take place the following weekend (just like it has its first two years in existence), April 25 and 26. So if you’ve already booked a place for that weekend, you can either switch up your reservations or start really, really liking country if you don’t already.
On-sale dates, acts and that type of pertinent info are still a long ways away, natch, but feel free to speculate. Here’s some wild speculation to start you off: Since it’s the 10-year anniversary, inaugural Coachella artists At the Drive-Ins will reunite a la The Pixies, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Bauhaus before them. Miley Cyrus will join TV On The Radio on stage for an “impromptu” jam during “Dancing Choose.” Roy Orbison will come back from the dead for a DJ set in the Gobi Tent.
