Back in the time of its release in 2000, Ed Templeton's photo book Teenage Smokers was a revelation of street photography focused on teenaged skaters doing what normal teens do: hook up, go to punk shows and skate around the streets of their familiar base of Huntington Beach. That book managed to turn Templeton into a venerable artist, and probably made local parents go into a tizzy to see what their kids were up to. Templeton unleashes a new exhibition of photo works called 'Common Side Effects' where he curates the work of five other local artists: wife Deanna Templeton, Nolan Hall, Grant Hatfield, Billy “Soncho” Williams, and Devin Briggs. See these parts of OC in a new light, as the six photographers focus their cameras on Huntington Beach and its idiosyncratic beach lifestyle, culture and people.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 12. Continues through Nov. 7, 2015
