This week we look at a conviction and a charging.
The conviction is for a 36-year-old man who sexually assaulted two underage female relatives in Santa Ana.
The charges are for a 55-year-old man who is accused of sexually assaulting three girls in Orange.
Ruben Tajimaroa was convicted Thursday of the sexual assaults but jurors deadlocked 8-4 in favor of guilt on one count of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years or younger—so that charge was dismissed. One victim is now age 18 and the other is 9, but Tajimaroa started touching the older girl inappropriately starting in 2004. He sexually assaulted her in a shower, showed her pornographic videos and recorded her naked on his cell phone. The defense conceded to Tajimaroa's lewd acts with the older girl but denied he molested the younger girl. He could be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on Oct. 21.
Carlos Hernandez Saran was charged last Tuesday with sexually assaulting three girls dating back eight years. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 21 on six counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a victim younger than 14, a count of lewd or lascivious acts on a child between 14 or 15, a count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 or younger as well as sentencing enhancement allegation for multiple victims.
