Certainly deserving credit for the truth-in-advertising aspect of their band name, the Australian Pink Floyd Show formed in 1988 in South Australia for the express purpose of covering Floyd tunes, and 20 years later, they can boast of having performed for David Gilmour and playing Royal Albert Hall. On their 2008 tour, they’re covering Floyd’s landmark album The Wall in its entirety, complete with elaborate Floyd-esque lighting effects, inflatable things and the most satisfying of arena-rock bombast. With this and the Pink Floyd Laserspectacular happening next April at the Carpenter Center in Long Beach, it’s looking to be a very enjoyable six months for local Floyd fans.
