If you just can't wait until the weekend to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, the Muckenthaler Cultural Center starts the festivities a little early with their Day of the Dead Festival. This, however, is a very family-friendly affair as the Muck combines the event with their annual Teen Festival. So bring the kids, tweens, teens and anyone else who wants to join for an evening of Dia de los Muertos-themed arts and crafts (sugar skulls!), youth bands playing live, an alters exhibit, a poetry slam, art contest, teen organizations and more. In conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Fullerton, the Muck's Day of the Dead Festival is a perfect way to start the holiday—if you plan your Halloween costume right, you might not have to take it off for three straight days.
