Way back when, Steve Aoki was a guy in a pretty vicious hardcore band called Esperanza (did you think we were gonna say This Machine Kills?) who helped book tons of DIY shows into an apartment in Isla Vista, where you could smush into a living room and kitchen and wonder which would collapse first—the ceiling or the goodwill of the neighbors. Now he is STEVE AOKI (with DJ/MOGUL/CELEBRITY/ETC. in perpetual all caps), and he’s presenting the Pickle Patch Tour, trading hardcore for house, techno and electro, but it’s still likely loud enough—especially with PeaceTreaty, who like jet engines and machine guns—to rattle the walls.
