'Dinner and a Movie' Debuts Thursday at Taco Asylum

In an effort to further differentiate themselves from those other happy hours, the crazies behind taco asylum are premiering weekly “music-only” movies beginning tonight.

Paired with Happy Hour specials of discounted taco-ish fare, $2 off canned craft brews and $3 draft options, the flat-screen will finally air more than Twitter feeds. Two films are currently scheduled, and both are great.

Tonight's screening is of The Grateful Dead Movie, concert footage from their 1974 visit to Wonderland Ballroom in San Francisco. Next Thursday brings It Might Get Loud, a documentary that explores the history of the electric guitar by focusing on rock stars Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White.

Films are set to play at 9 p.m., just as their late night Happy Hour gets started. The choice of (seemingly) limited dialogue movies is so diners can still interact while enjoying the free entertainment. SO MUCH more better than the artsy visuals projected in the bar (and sometimes bathroom) areas of other hipster roaming areas…
