Dolly Parton Tells It Like It Is

Dolly Parton is currently on her first major north american tour in 25 years, which included a sold-out, star-studded, two-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl.

The acclaimed singer/songwriter and beloved cultural icon spoke about her “comeback” on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week:

“Anyime [people] say ‘Dolly makes a comeback,' I think, ‘Where’d I go? I thought I was still here!’” she told Jimmy Kimmel during an interview last Monday. “I just love what I do and I love the people and I think the people feel like they’ve grown up with me and I’m like a sister or a favorite aunt. I think people want to come along with me and I’m glad they’re still with me.”

The 70-year-old entertainer is currenly promoting her latest album Pure & Simple—a collection of love songs inspired in part by her husband, Carl Dean, to whom she has been married 50 years.

Parton's life is as large as her personality: She's had 41 Top 10 country albums, released 43 studio albums, and has won seven Grammy awards. Plus—who could neglect to mention—she has her own theme park!

“I don't have time to get old,” she recently told Larry King.

Parton will be the 2016 recipient of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, to be presented during the 50th Annual CMA Awards telecast on November 2nd.
