What kind of world do we live in where the Damned need a documentary to prove that they were just as good as the Pistols, the Clash et al? Isn’t that an is-water-wet question? Directed by dedicated fan Wes Orshoski, Don’t You Wish That We Were Dead proves that the Damned made a bigger, smearier, bloodier mark on history than they get credit for. There’s a long list of talking heads explaining why they love the Damned, but the real highlights are the killer period live footage from that early era when there was practically no one harder/faster/louder, and the unimpeded transmission of the overpowering personalities that made the Damned the untamable beast it was.
