After a summer of releasing music, playing guerrilla-style gigs and generally busting their asses, we figured it was time for the Plugged Into Local audience to get a boot-full of gritty distortion courtesy of Anaheim's Douglas and the Furs. Next Monday, Sep. 24, the third installment of our monthly local music concert series takes us to Fullerton's Commonwealth Lounge where the band will play alongside fellow up-and-coming pedal-stomping provocateurs With Strangers (think Young the Giant with a slice of Pop Levy thrown in).

Guitarist Douglas McCurdy, bassist Jared Henderson and wailing vocalist/drummer Jonathan Shively are busting into downtown Fullerton on a full head of steam following the release of last month's eponymous EP. While the homage to volatile proto punks like the Stooges and the MC-5 is obvious, its not all about their fuzz pedal fetish. The shirt-tearing aggression of songs like “Younger and Younger” pack enough demonically possessed howling and whammy bar assaults to keep a bar dweller's eyes fixed on the stage for the duration of their set. Joined by the chugging, tremolo-filled retro melodies of With Strangers (featuring members of brown-eyed soul troupe Los Deans), this little party has the potential to spark up pretty damn quick.

The show starts at 9 p.m. and it's free to get in. All you have to do is take a few seconds to RSVP. We promise, it's suuuuuper easy and well worth it. Find out how to do it after the jump!
