Behold what the success of KFC's Double Down has wrought. As an obvious escalation of the fast food gimmickry that is KFC's bunless sandwich, an east coast chain called Friendly's has introduced a so-called “Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt”, wherein two grilled cheese sandwiches act as a bun for a burger patty. It's like as though they're compensating for all the wasted and unused carbs the Double Down chose not to use.

The sandwich weighs in at 1,160 calories and has 83 grams of total fat (36 of them saturated), which, of course, exceeds the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's daily allowances. Also, it reportedly contains even more salt per serving than the Double Down.
So what's next? How long before we see the Quadruple-Bypass Down?
