The Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg returns to the Segerstrom Center with the West Coast premiere of Rodin, the company's new ballet based on the passionate and tragic romance of genius sculptor Auguste Rodin and his muse Camille Claudel. Told through Boris Eifman's signature choreography of graceful movement and fluid physical expression, this is the tale of two lovers, bound by art and infatuation for 15 years—and the story of their breakup, which left Camille wretched and broken, ultimately losing sanity and spending the last 30 years of her life alone in a mental asylum. (Ice cream pints and Nicholas Sparks movies doesn't look so bad now, does it?) Don't miss this masterpiece of dance during the troop's only West Coast performance.
