“I mean, the products are all the same across the board,” said longtime Evergreen patient Peter Chung. “But the people are the most important part, they treat everyone here like family, so that’s especially why I come back.” On Sat. July 15 Evergreen of Santa Ana invited all their “family” to celebrate, 420 style, at their post 710 party.
The collective sits street side, so a view of the vendor filled parking lot was in plain sight drawing in randoms following the scent of Soho’s Tacos back to Evergreen. That’s right, I said tacos, tasty ones too, but that’s not the only stoner treat they had for new and old patients. A Rastafarian from Leafly, a cannabis information platform, was on the tables spinning hip-hop and “marijuana’s music.” His Jamaican accent made his words of inspiration and basically anything he said sound more interesting, so when he said, “come now n see what dey got for ya inside.” I had no choice but to listen.
If there were any day to pick up, this was it. Honey Pot welcomed you with lip balm, infused honey and a relaxing shoulder message, while the Heirloom Co. encouraged guests to try their wax with a dime sized sample of it. Evergreen brought in cannabis companies like Half Lit, Bhang Chocolate, Legion of Bloom, Papa & Barkley, Moonlion Cannascience and at least a dozen more handing out bite-sized samples and legit promos. The collective couldn’t house all the vendors they invited, so they spilled into the front lot, thankfully it wasn’t a million degrees.
“The sun is out, but there’s a nice breeze,” said Llari De Paz of Papa and Barkley. “It’s really great, friendly faces everywhere, people seem to be enjoying themselves and there’s tacos.”
As if Evergreen needed a special event to gain recognition, their facility is loaded with top shelf flower, high-quality concentrates, mind-blowing edibles, micro dosing and pretty much anything else a marijuana patient would want or need. This being my first visit, they definitely made a lasting impression, my budtender Matt was so knowledgeable, polite and willing to show me whatever I wanted to see without losing patience. His recommendations were precise and tailored to my requests, he’s like your own personal weed mechanic-he’ll get you all fixed up. “It’s really nice how they got everybody to get together here,” said patient Jonathan Morales smelling like Jack Daniels. “Showing everybody love and they got all this good weed here, they got everything good here.”
To top it off, Matt gave me a great deal and a sweet goodie bag with edibles, a lighter, a lanyard and other things I’m sure I just have to have. I made sure to hit up the outside vendors for my freebies and tacos after I got my prescription, it’s so awesome when they get down like this, I could have stayed there all day. This won’t be the last of their parties or patient appreciation days, it’s obvious, Evergreen is really here for us- the patients.
