Hollywood Palladium
Reemerging from a decade plus absence, Faith No More returned earlier this year for a high profile slot at Coachella. After making a few appearances over in Europe, Faith No More returned for two nights at the Hollywood Palladium as a precursor to their final reunion stop in Chile on December 5.

Decked out in a sharp red suit, Mike Patton strutted
on stage with a cane to sing the smooth tones of Peaches N Herb's
“Reunited” just as they did at Coachella. Keyboardist Roddy Bottum
pitched in on vocals while adding some gentle keys. Faith No More have
always gone against the grain and challenged their rabid fanbase.
Shifting
gears immediately, Patton ditched his sunglasses briefly used his
megaphone to tear into “From Out Of Nowhere.” The rolling bassline by
Billy Gould and tribal thumping of Mike Bordin melted together
seamlessly with Patton's urgent vocals. “Caffeine” injected even more
energy into the crowd with its high arching synthesizer pads and
stumbling drum beat. Patton crouched at the front stage ready to pounce.

Elastic
bass notes and military drum fire of “Surprise! You're Dead!” assaulted
your senses with Patton's rapid fire vocal delivery meshed against an
odd time signature. It was damaged art metal at its finest. Something
only Faith No More could pull off. Sliding back into cover mode, their
rendition of “Easy” by the Commodores was flawless. Crowd surfing kicked
into high gear during “Midlife Crisis” which seemed ironic as most
Faith No More fans should be approaching that time frame shortly.
The

shaking between the crowd singing along, Gould's subsonic bass and
Bordin's gigantic drum slams. After playing “Chariots of Fire,” the
chirping synthesizers of “Stripsearch” still managed to keep heads
banging in approval before closing their first encore with “Spirit.”

Personal Bias:
I begrudgingly caught only a few songs of their Coachella performance
and wanted to see a full set of Faith No More in front of their devoted
fans.
Crowd: Faith No More is one of a few select bands where it is acceptable to wear Faith No More shirts.
