Art buffs are in for a delight this Wednesday afternoon as the Bowers Museum screens Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure. This 2013 documentary takes a look at the significant impact music had on the Dutch painter—an instrument within one of his photorealistic paintings could imply which social status the subject held, or could be a symbol of peace and contentment. Presented by the National Gallery of London, the 90-minute film follows art historian, broadcaster and writer Tim Marlow as he examines the intricate relationship Johannes Vermeer (most famous for Girl with a Pearl Earring) had with music, taking audiences along for a personal point-of-view during his educational journey.
