Le Pain Quotidien, a bakery started by a Belgian chef, has conquered the rest of the world, including Bahrain, Japan and India. L.A. has a dozen already. Now the first Orange County outpost is planned for Fashion Island, the first in Orange County.

Expected to open this fall at the center's Pacific Court, Le Pain
Quotidien's ovens will bake wheat, rye, spelt, five-grain walnut,
baguettes, French rolls, brioche, croissants, muffins and other pastries
daily. Friday brings challah.
For breakfast, homemade granola parfait, Belgian waffles, and omelets.
For lunch and beyond, salads and tartines (open-faced sandwiches) using, of course, their own
bread.
