Orange County's nerd culture doesn't get the hype it deserves. Sure, we may be sandwiched between LA and San Diego, the cities that host literally the largest anime convention and largest comic convention in existence (LA's Anime Expo and San Diego Comic Con, obviously), but there's one thing that neither of those two have on us: BlizzCon.
Today and tomorrow, the best thing to ever come out of the city of Irvine invades Anaheim, and there's a little something for everyone from the craft-ling and cosplayer to the eSport hopeful — even if you didn't get tickets.

5. The Music
I'm sad to say that Level 90 Epic Tauren Chieftan, the Blizzard Entertainment in-house band made up of senior employees (including art director Samwise Didier and CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime), won't be playing this year.
But while it's fun to imagine a bunch of exec-level employees rehearsing “Rogues Do It From Behind” and “Terran Up the Night,” the music at BlizzCon will still be as strong as ever.
Sure, Blink 182 is playing, but the shows you want to catch are the community-driven acts.
Songhammer, aWorld of Warcraft-inspired metal act out of the 909, will be playing acoustic sets both days on the convention floor.

4. WCS World Finals
Issues about the new competitive StarCraft World Champion Series format aside, the best StarCraft players in world will be in Anaheim this weekend, where they'll be competing for the title of Best StarCraft Player in the World and $250,000 in prize money.
Blizzard spared no expense with coverage team, hiring basically every single notable StarCraft broadcaster in the world.
Not even sure how the game works? It's okay, because they'll get you excited anyways.

3. StarCrafts
The cutest thing that's ever come out of video games is, I'm pretty sure, StarCrafts, are an on-going series of animated shorts featuring units from the StarCraft universe.
I'll let you guys watch this video to see for yourself.
Is a new short guaranteed this weekend? No, but Carbot's been interviewed in Blizzard's promotional material leading up to the con, and he made an appearance last year. So here's looking forward to what he's got up his sleeve.
2. BlizzCon Costume and Cosplay Contests
Cons live and die by their cosplayers, and Blizzard has some of the best fans in existence. There was no BlizzCon 2012, so the costumers have had two years to prepare, and I'm sure everything will be bigger and better than ever before.
1. BarCraft
Sometimes, you can't score tickets. It happens, BlizzCon is very popular, so don't be ashamed.
If you didn't make it in this year, don't worry, you can still enjoy the event in the presence of your fellow nerds — AND ALCOHOL — at SoCal eSport's BarCraft in Lake Forest.
We've written about them multiple times before, and they'll be there today and tomorrow so go, eat, drink and be merry — even if you're super sad about missing the lines and other lines, at least you'll have alcohol.
