Remember when Foster The People were doing a Detroit Bar residency basically during the week or two they suddenly got internationally famous? If not, you can go watch the video for their breakout-and-then-some “Pumped Up Kicks,” which was filmed at Detroit in 2011 and which captures locals losing their minds for all time. Now, however, Foster The People have just released their sophomore album Supermodel, in which they double down on their MGMT-esque Vampire Weekend-y pop with a thousand deft little production choices and a set of songs scientifically designed to crawl into your head and lay eggs. It’s moody, it’s manic, it’s more of everything that got them this far—how could you hope to resist?
