The OC Food Bank and the OC Fair have teamed up yet again for their annual “We Care Wednesday” Food Drive! The annual canned food drive is one of the Food Bank’s larger yearly efforts to help end hunger in Orange County.
The food drive will take place on July 24 on the OC Fair grounds. Those who bring 5 cans or more will be given one free admission ticket as well as one free ticket to your ride of choice at the fair that day. This opportunity is only available between noon and 3 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at any one of the ground’s entrances throughout the day.
Started back in 2010, the canned food drive has collected 169,803 pounds of food in donations in an effort to end poverty in the Orange County community. All of the donations are equally distributed between the OC Food Bank and the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The OC Food Bank and OC Fair began their collaboration as a means to show how helping the community and having fun go hand-in-hand. The canned food drive is also a meaningful way for families and fairgoers to have access to the fair while also aiding the community at large.
“We’re just excited to help get the word out that you can have fun, give back and make a difference right here in your community,” said Lashanda Maze, the OC Food Bank’s Vice President of Philanthropy.
Bring out those cans!
