Despite a bounty of self-portraits and a Salma Hayek biopic, much of Frida Kahlo’s life still remains a mystery. But the celebrated surrealist artist lives on through the collective admiration of millions of fans. And with MOLAA’s new exhibit, “Frida Kahlo, Her Photos,” visitors are able to gain a little more insight into the life of Kahlo. The exhibition includes mementos, photographs and more than 200 photographic reproductions from her Casa Azul archive in Mexico City (strict instructions from Diego Rivera prohibit the originals from leaving the country), shining light on candid moments with family and friends. Not meant as any kind of authoritative biography on Kahlo, the show is a peek into her private world through six different sections: Her Parents, La Casa Azul, The Broken Body, Amores, Photography and Diego’s Gaze. Viva Frida!
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Fridays, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Starts: March 15. Continues through June 6, 2014
