Laguna Beach’s Ty Segall has had a prolific solo career since 2008, but with Fuzz, he’s taken a seat back at the drum set. Even if he’s still the singer, Fuzz’s music doesn’t contain much singing at all and instead focuses on mellow guitar riffs played by Charles Moothart. With Roland Cosio on bass and Segall on drums, the end result is, essentially, mood music–the kind of music you that’d be playing in the background when you’re at a bar. At its core, the trio is delight to watch simply because of their camaraderie (they were friends in high school). Thus, even if the music is slightly on the dark side, it elicits warmth and joy.
