The Farm + Food folk at Irvine’s Great Park will try anything to get you and the kids, uncles and grandparents out to our region’s most ambitious (if most promising) planned urban community retreat-in-progress, this Sunday afternoon conspiring to mash up culture and agriculture and percussion with a family-friendly primer on drumming, singing, chanting and more. The universal language of rhythm might not help the city secure needed funding for the stalled park, but their own righteous beats might prep your little Ringo for a college drum circle, Burning Man, parade or wherever they find themselves cooperating, communing and communicating in the Circle of Life. Teacher-host drum gurus of One World Rhythm provide the experienced teachers and cool instruments. Irvine’s Community Services Urban Agricultural Programs Division provides the garden venue and shade.
