Icon of public radio and venerable yarn spinner Garrison Keillor—you know, the creative genius behind NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, famous for imparting witty tales about St. Paul Minnesota and Lake Wobegone using the conventions of an old-timey radio show—is coming to the Cerritos Center. Keillor is the dork hipsters can appreciate ironically because his corniness is mitigated by the sheer heart and unexpected humor of his work. Simply put, he’s the cornball everyone loves—or at least the cornball NPR listeners love to love. For this appearance, fans get the benefit of his low-key anecdotes on life sans the distraction of his beloved cast of radio extras, just pure Keillor.
