Habibi's Funnel Cake opened in the summer of 2010 in Tustin adjacent to a Starbucks, next to a busy freeway on ramp to Interstate 5. At the time, I not-so-quietly wondered that it seemed like
an unlikely place for a funnel cake place (it's nowhere near a ferris
wheel or anything remotely county-fair-related).

Since it seemed that selling only funnel cakes wasn't going to pay the
rent, they started dabbling in falafel and even offered shawarma at one
point. But alas, apparently even that wasn't enough to keep it afloat.
Now Habibi's has closed; but the good news is that El Toro Bravo, the well-respected tortilleria which makes burritos that Gustavo has called “timeless things of beauty” and was the winner of our Best Burrito 2011 is moving right in.
