The Harlem Globetrotters are some gutsy guys—saving the gang from ghost pirates in Scooby Doo, saving the universe from temporal dissolution in Futurama, and now saving themselves from the constricting traditions of basketball by letting their fans vote online to change the very rules of the sport. Four-point shots from the back of beyond? Double scores on all baskets? Two basketballs in play at once? This ain’t Canadian-American Dr. James Naismith’s ballgame no more! (History tip to Wikipedia.) In theory, every Globetrotters game could be running with different rules—and as we learned from Futurama, the Globetrotters excel at theory. And also basketball!
