Halloween comes early to Orange County Saturday night as a website dedicated to All Hallows’ Eve as well as horror, metaphysics and the paranormal launches with an “exclusive” dinner and investigation of the reportedly “very haunted” Cafe Hidalgo and California Hotel in Fullerton.
The new site is Goldenstatehaunts.org, your event host is Erik Vanlier (Haunted History, Haunted Encounters, My Ghost Story, Ghost Adventures) and special guests, contests, a psychic and live (as opposed to un-dead) “intimate acoustic performances” by Long Beach’s The Black Rose Phantoms, Tres Muertos and LA’s The Rundown Kreeps are promised.
Among the participants: Jennifer Phillips, an “International Evidential Medium,” psychic and tarot reader; Ace Jordan, director of the critically acclaimed Silent Retreat; Trista Robinson, who starred in that horror movie as well as the upcoming Asmodeus; Russ McKamey, owner of the nation’s most controversial extreme haunt McKamey Manor; and Adrian Marcato, who started his horroring as a Knott’s Scary Farm monster in 2005 and went on to make short films, work in the F/X world and found Heretic Horror House.
Promoters say those who attend will have very rare, after hours access to the 92-year-old California Hotel building, which used to house a brothel. Cafe Hidalgo is claimed to be haunted by a spirit named Chuck as well as hotel guests and prostitutes. Wait, isn’t this the current season of American Horror Story?
The event starts at 7 p.m. and the investigation runs until 1 a.m. The $48.47 tickets include an all-you-can-eat pasta bar, beverage tax and tip.
