It will be in the area of Jeffrey Road and Alton Parkway, according to the department, which informs residents and visitors to expect more checkpoints through the end of the year.
“Most motorists will experience little delay, if any at all,” the cops swear.
Meanwhile, the Orange County Sheriff's Department has announced “saturation patrols” from 7 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday in its contract cities of Stanton, Yorba Linda and Villa Park.
These patrols put extra deputies on streets with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests.
Both the city and county operations are funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
UPDATE, JULY 21, 3:02 P.M.: The Irvine Police Department today announced 604 vehicles were stopped at Friday night's checkpoint at Jeffrey and Alton.
Four drivers were given sobriety tests, two were arrested on suspicion of drunken or drug-impaired driving and 22 various citations were issued, according to police Sgt. Matt August.
