Despite a cocaine overdose and two failed marriages, Tony Bennett’s music career continues to leave even the most prudish of audiences envious. Dubbed by Frank Sinatra as “the greatest singer in the world,” Bennett has sold more than 50 million records and won 15 Grammy Awards and two Emmys during his 50-plus years in show business. With his 85th birthday approaching on Aug. 3, Laguna Playhouse pays tribute to this musical icon with I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett. The show features three singers and a live jazz combo performing more than two dozen Bennett classics tied together to represent the story of his life and career and remind us all that, yep, “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 5. Continues through Aug. 21, 2011
