Eventually, the Irvine Global Village Festival hopes to become a zero-waste event—and they're well on their way. From green transportation (shuttles fueled by natural gas) to biodegradable banners to compostable forks, this fest is truly a celebration of the planet. Featuring entertainment on several stages, dozens of cultures are represented through constant performances of song, dance and live music. There's also a kids' village with crafts and games, more than 50 food stops from gourmet food trucks and local restaurants (everything from Chinese Dim Sum to German pretzels!), exhibits, interactive demonstrations, a green expo and an international marketplace. Best of all, the Irvine Global Village Festival is as wallet-friendly as it is earth-friendly: admission is free.
