As I wrote a few weeks ago here, the space near the Orange Circle that used to be Spiros, which turned into the high-falutin' seafood restaurant with a Michelin-starred chef called Ways and Means, has been taken over by Jason Kordas, who used to own Jason's Downtown in Santa Ana.
]
Jason's By The Circle is now open and the menu is online. On it are pastas, poultry dishes such as a Jamaican Jerk Chicken and a Coq Au Vin, beef dishes such as a Cuban Ropa Vieja and a Dry-Aged Rib Eye, and seafood such as Caribbean Crepes and a Ouzo-Flamed Shrimp. But the thing I enjoyed at Jason's Downtown seems to also be present and accounted: the bastilla.
He describes it thusly: “Shredded Cornish Game Hen, Almonds N Moroccan Spices wrapped in Phyllo Dough, Baked N Sprinkled w/ Cinnamon N Sugar” sold for $14.
