Back for another run, the jukebox musical that traces the life of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has some serious momentum pushing it across the country. A few days after the Jersey Boys movie lands in theaters nationwide, the play returns to Orange County for a three-week run. For a stage production to maintain such success, it has to have a winning formula that resonates with people of all ages—and Jersey Boys nails it. You can credit the catchy tunes but, ultimately, this is a rags-to-riches story, providing hope that if four schlubs from New Jersey can hit the big time, then with a bit of talent and hard work, anyone can. More than nine years in, Jersey Boys isn’t just a Broadway hit, it’s become a part of American pop culture—much like the band whose story it depicts.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 1 & 6:30 p.m. Starts: June 24. Continues through July 13, 2014
