The sister of teevee's Jesse James was sentenced Monday to three years in federal prison for embezzling about $335,000 from her former employer in Los Alamitos.
U.S. District Judge James Selna had been considering lesser prison time after Juliana James England’s husband said he needed help raising their sons.
But after hearing from the victims who were forced to close their family-owned business due to Englund's theft, Selna went with the stricter punishment, which also included an order to pay $368,152 in restitution.
After deliberating about 2 1/2 hours, a federal jury in Selna's Santa Ana courtroom found 50-year-old Englund guilty of three counts of wire fraud on Feb. 23.
She had been the secretary and office manager from March 2000 to August 2007 at Callan Western Sales Co., an independent firm that contracted with sporting goods manufacturers.
Now a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Englund faces separate federal charges in Arkansas for allegedly obtaining Social Security benefits illegally, according to prosecutors.
