Graphic Artist John Van Hamersveld will be making an appearance and signing copies of his art at the Lab tomorrow night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Van Hamersveld's name might not ring a bell, but his artwork definitely will: concert posters and album art for Hendrix, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and many others; even the 1985 Olympics mural in Los Angeles and the signage for Fatburger. His most recognizable work—here in Orange County, at least—might just be the three-hued Day-Glo film poster for surf documentary Endless Summer.
It's all in correlation with an exhibition of Van Hamersveld's works, “Surf Rock,” taking place at the Artery at the Lab, a walk-through art gallery of sorts made up of steel shipping containers. While “Surf Rock” will be on display through the 20th, Van Hamersveld will be signing works for one night only.
Full flier after the jump.
John Van Hamersveld signing in the living room area of the Lab, 2930 Bristol St., Costa Mesa, (714) 966-6660; www.thelab.com. Sat., 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Free.
