Comedian Jonny Loquasto always keeps it funny and also seems to keep all sorts of irons in the fire. From hosting a weekly wrestling show (yeah, seriously) and stand-up comedy, the Pennsylvania native is a confessed sports fanatic with a master's degree in Physical Therapy. On May 30th, Loquatso will bring his stand-up act to the Whisky Tango Foxtrot show at the Brea Improv all to help raise money for families and kids dealing with pediatric cancer, a cause that is near to his heart. For those looking to get some laughs and do some good at the same time, make sure to catch the gig.
OC Weekly (Ali Lerman): It seems like you keep super busy with comedy and with wrestling stuff. What are you working on these days?
Jonny Loquasto: Yeah, pro wrestling is my thing. I have a weekly YouTube show called “Off the Ropes” and it's basically like “The Soup” for pro wrestling. We have a bunch of episodes so that's fun. I'm hoping it will get picked up by someone because it's a really funny show and you don't need to understand wrestling to get it. I also still contribute to NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood on Saturday nights at 1am on KDOC. And of course I do stand-up.

And you still make time for charity which is nice! What's the charity that your Brea show is raising money for?
It's called Angel 34 and it's a pediatric cancer foundation to help kids and families to cope with pediatric cancer. It's actually really well rounded because it's not just helping the kids, it's helping the parents too for so many things.
How did you get involved?
The girl that started it was named Nicole Sherriff and she is from my hometown Northampton, PA. I never got to meet her and she passed away in '04 at age fifteen after she battled Ewing Sarcoma for two years. But the more I found out about her, the more I realized how much we had in common. This girl was wise beyond her years and it just struck me that I had to start doing something. One thing Nicole noticed during her chemo was that the one thing that made her feel better was ICEE's. She would drink those and it would not only make her feel better, but it would help with her mouth sores and would give her a little more energy. Now they came up with a formula specifically for cancer patients with vitamins and minerals. So, one of Angel 34's goals is to get an ICEE machine installed in as many children's hospitals across the country as possible.
That is such a great idea!
Yeah. Her parents lead the whole foundation and I've become really close with them. We're really trying to pack this Brea show on the 30th because anything helps. One of my goals this year is to raise as much money as I can for them so hopefully someone will notice it and want to team up! I mean, it started off in a small little town in Pennsylvania so that would be great!
Well everyone loves a good laugh and if it also helps a wonderful cause, that's like the icing on the cake!
Right, my goal is to do as many charity shows that I can for Angel 34 and Kenny Klein was nice enough to lend out his Whiskey Tango Foxtrot show for the night. This will hopefully be the first of many shows that will raise money for the foundation. Also if you can't make the show, you can always make a donation directly through their website and get a lot of information on there as well. But it will be a fun and funny show so either way I hope people will come out for a good time!
