The celebrated CoisCéim dance company kick off their most recent production Knots at the Irvine Barclay Theatre en route to New York. Their eclectic dance routine both depicts and distorts our perspectives on the shapes of personal relationships: cubes, wedding dresses, tuxedos, handcuffs, mirrors, exit signs-a blast of symbols parallel to the ups and downs of partnership. CoisCéim's contemporary routine is divided into dialogue scenes with exaggerated movements. Knots demonstrates flexible, intricate twisting movements, representing both the tie-down and instability that comes with love and lust. (And for all of you out there attempting to sound it out, it's pronounced “Kush Came.”)
