Ever wonder what an alligator and boysenberry mashup might taste like? We do. So this week, we’ll be hitting up the Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival, an annual old-timey-themed jamboree complete with pie-eating contests, live music from dueling fiddlers and banjos, dance parties, and more than 70 boysenberry-laced things to consume: like the aforementioned fried alligator with boysenberry aioli, fried cheese curds with spicy boysenberry sauce, boysenberry meatballs, boysenberry barbeque short ribs, and a whole bunch of desserts with boysenberry worked in like panna cotta and fried cinnamon rolls. And boysenberry beer and wine, too. We think Mr. Knott would be proud to see what his little berry has become—but we probably won’t want to see another boysenberry until next year’s festival.
