Dinner parties are the worst. You’re forced to make small talk with people you barely know and barely like while pretending to act interested despite your complete and utter disinterest in anything outside of your own discontent. In Life X 3, playwright Yasmina Reza depicts this familiar uncomfortable scene for audiences, all the while highlighting the difficulties not only of the social situation, but of the inward torment faced by couples in attendance who can barely even stand each other. Alcohol flows, insults fly and uneasiness sets in during Director Gary Krinke’s depiction of this deliciously disastrous dinner party at Stages Theatre, which causes audiences to explore the burdens of marriage, children, career and courtesy.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: March 8. Continues through April 7, 2013
